Surgical Critical Care
Educational Curriculum
One of the desirable aspects of this fellowship is the ability to tailor the rotations to your specific interests. ACGME requires 9 months of rotations in an Intensive Care Unit, with the bulk of those in the SICU. You will be required to do 2 weeks of "Immersion" and "Anesthesia" which are worked into your yearly rotation schedule.

Fellows are required to attend the SICU Weekly Didactic conference which is held on Fridays at 1:00 p.m. We follow the American Board of Surgery's SCORE curriculum as a guideline to ensure all surgical critical care topics are covered throughout the 1-year training. On the fourth Friday of each month, we devote the conference to M & M where we discuss individual cases and events. We have a monthly Journal Club which usually takes place off campus in the evening in a more relaxed yet collegial atmosphere.
